Lake Pichl near Schladming is one of the cleanest swimming lakes in Styria. It is approximately 15 km from your accommodation. With a water surface area of 5,500 m² and 12,000 m² of sunbathing space, this mountain lake is perfect for a refreshing family outing. A dedicated children’s area, a play area with a large playground and platforms in the water offer plenty of variety. Sports enthusiasts can make use of the football pitch and beach volleyball court right by the lake. For the little ones, there is a paddling pool where they can splash about. The on-site restaurant, with its large terrace, provides the necessary refreshments.
Admission is free for all guests of the Berggasthof Hunerkogel with the Schladming-Dachstein Summer Card.
The Dachstein Bad is located in the centre of Ramsau, approximately 9 km from the Berggasthof Hunerkogel, and is ideal for families with young children, older children or teenagers. The indoor swimming pool features a 25-metre sports pool for active parents, as well as a separate children’s pool with a comfortable water temperature, an elephant slide and a stainless steel slide, where the little ones can splash about to their heart’s content. For an extra dose of fun and action, the sports pool is usually transformed into a floating obstacle course, the Aqua Track, in the afternoons. Adults and teenagers aged 15 and over can relax in the spacious sauna area.
The 600 m² sauna area offers a variety of relaxation options on the open-air terrace, in the Finnish sauna, the bio-herbal sauna, the infrared cabin, the scented mist steam grotto, the Kneipp foot bath, the relaxation area and the exercise pool.
A three-hour visit to the swimming pool is included in the benefits of the Dachstein Sommercard.
A worthwhile day trip from the Berggasthof Hunerkogel: just 24 km away lies Aich Lake – a true paradise for families! A water trampoline, an island in the lake, beach volleyball, table tennis, a balance course and a slackline provide plenty of action. The little ones love the children’s water slide, the sensory trail, various play equipment and covered playgrounds. The splash fountain with water features provides extra refreshment.
Special highlights: On Mondays and Wednesdays, taster climbing sessions on the 9-metre-high climbing tower (free with the Summer Card), kayaking courses and e-bike hire (subject to a fee, please book in advance).

We recommend a trip to the region’s picturesque mountain lakes for adventurous families with hiking experience. Duisitzkarsee (1,650 m) in the Rohrmooser Obertal, for example, is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in Styria. The family-friendly hike from the Eschachalm (around 30 kilometres from Ramsau) takes about an hour and a half and leads through a magnificent larch forest. At the lake, two cosy huts – the Duisitzkarseehütte and the Fahrlechhütte – await, offering regional delicacies. Brave children can splash about in the crystal-clear water (please no sun cream, to protect the fish).
The Riesachsee (1,338 m) in the Untertal (approx. 30 kilometres from Ramsau) delights with its spectacular setting. The ascent via the thrilling alpine trail “Durch die Höll”, featuring ladders and a 50-metre-long suspension bridge, is a real adventure for older children. The Kaltenbachalm on the lakeside treats its guests to organic specialities and a magnificent view of the lake.
