From the Austriahütte, you have two options: either continue your hike via the Dachstein Kircherl to Ramsau Ort and take a comfortable bus ride back, or return to the Hunerkogel via the alpine paths and enjoy a hot tea or a homemade pastry in our cozy dining room.
A short walk of about 20 minutes through the idyllic alpine pasture area leads you to the Walcheralm alpine dairy. Here, you can taste home-made cheeses and learn more about traditional alpine cheese production. The tasting provides the perfect refreshment for the walk back and offers an authentic alpine experience with a view of the Dachstein south faces.
The Rittisberg loop is a leisurely forest walk with many opportunities for refreshment stops along the way. Enjoy the fresh alpine air and movement in nature while stopping at rustic alpine huts. The loop can also be enjoyed as a delightful "schnapps to schnapps" tour—and the local bus service will take you comfortably back to your starting point.
Witness firsthand how sheep's wool is processed according to ancient tradition at the Ramsau Lodenwalke, under the motto "wool takes time." During a factory tour, you will learn everything about the production methods still in use today—from raw wool to the finished loden fabric. In the Lodenwalke shop, you can purchase high-quality sheep's wool garments for yourself, ensuring you are equipped with warm clothing even away from the ski slopes in Ramsau. Afterward, you can enjoy Styrian delicacies at the inn and bring your visit to the Lodenwalke at the foot of the Dachstein to a cozy conclusion.
This rustic alpine hut welcomes guests in both winter and summer. To reach the Halseralm at 1,100 meters above sea level, you hike along a pleasant path through the forest. From the valley, it takes about 35 minutes to reach the hut on the Halserberg, which is surrounded by lush meadows—an ideal excursion to this "God's corner" for families with children. The flambéed Kaiserschmarren is particularly recommended, and the many animals nearby will delight your children. A horse-drawn carriage ride to the Halseralm is an absolute highlight, both during the day and in the evening.
Also open in both summer and winter, the Sonnenalm is located on the Rittisberg. A circular trail leads to the south side of the Rittisberg and the hut at an altitude of 1,350 meters. Once there, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Kitzsteinhorn, the Schladminger Tauern, and the Hochgolling. Furthermore, the Sonnenalm is famous for its live folk music.
